Hijack Night: justify it all with Robert Rodgers

  • FMP1 1 Franz-Mehring-Platz Berlin, BE, 10243 Germany (map)

2-hour EVENING WORKSHOP

"Hijacking" in improvisation is when an actor comes on stage and makes a "crazy" call that has nothing to do with the scene. Someone jumps on stage and is suddenly a singing banana at a sad funeral. How do we make it work?

There are two things that this workshop can help you with:

1) Justification and how not to worry about making mistakes. Can you justify anything and make everyone look great as if every improv moment was almost scripted and meant to be?

2) Realize that you don’t need to be in your head and worry about narration. If you are with good improvisers, who know how to handle hijacks, they should be able to make it work. This will empower your play and let you play with more freedom.
